Awareness
We have understood very clearly from the previous heading of Karma & Its Cycle that when the soul is on the brink of self realisation, it wants to master the mind and start the involution towards GOD. To achieve its mastery over the mind, developing awareness is the first step it has to take.
Awareness means, firstly one has to be aware about itself that it is a soul in the physical body of a human form and not the physical body itself. The mind of the soul will be the biggest hurdle in keeping this awareness alive as the mind does not want to loose its identity and it will always try to suppress the soul's awareness by bombarding it with continuous thoughts of duality resulting into conflicts again.
To outwit the mind's cunning ways to pull the soul into duality, one can continuously direct its mind to watch the breath of the body and be in a witness mode all the time. By directing the mind towards watching the breath continuously, one can immediately stop the stream of thoughts instantly as the mind is now not busy bombarding thoughts of duality but instead its been directed to watch the breath of the body.
Try for one minute now, just for one minute.
Watch your breath and feel the air going in through the nostrils, wind pipe and the lungs and air coming out of lungs, wind pipe and out through nostrils again. Watch it carefully and feel the air passing in and out of the body. Just one minute and you will observe after one minute that there were no thoughts in your mind whilst you were watching the breath. If thoughts have come, then you are not watching the breath and you are watching your breath then thoughts will fade. It feels so great and blissful which you must have never experienced from the time of your birth in this lifetime.
If there is any thought in your mind, then you were not watching the breath. It has to be either the breath or the thought. This will be the first most powerful step to outwit the mind and regain mastery over it.
One can direct its mind to watch the breath every moment and be free of thoughts all the time and a thoughtless blissful state will be achieved. This is a surest first path to master the mind and its chattering and one has to be aware of it every moment. This breath awareness is the first awareness one has to develop to master its mind and this is one dimensional awareness.
Once a soul develops the breath awareness and practices it for minimum six months to a year, depending on how deeply its mind is conditioned, it will be fully able to control its mind and become its master. After the mastery of breath awareness, a soul can now go ahead and develop thought awareness, a second dimensional awareness, through which a soul observes the thoughts coming in its mind and filters out the unwanted thoughts and not let it enter in its mind making permanent place in it for it to chatter.
This is a very critical and important state of awareness one has to develop after breath awareness as now, through observation and awareness, the soul is taking control of the types of thoughts it wants to associate with. While developing the thought awareness, one has to maintain the breath awareness continuously or otherwise the cunning mind will again make the soul slip into the world of duality. So, now a soul has to maintain double awareness, breath and thought, to gain complete mastery over its mind. This is now two dimensional awareness a soul develops.
By developing the second dimensional awareness of thoughts along with the first dimensional awareness of breath, a soul gets power to observe the types of thoughts its mind created and allows only the thoughts it feels pleasant and blissful with to enter in its mind and discard the thoughts promoting duality, friction, contradiction, pain and other unpleasant thoughts. For example, say, you are in your house or apartment and you are watching the vehicles passing by the road. You are just watching these vehicles, right? Are you allowing these vehicles to enter into your house by watching it? No. You are letting it pass while you are observing it. In a similar way, one has to develop the art of watching the thoughts streaming in, one after the other, and choose the pleasant ones and discard the unpleasant ones.
In this space called mind, of which one has become a master, one can choose the quality of thoughts it wants to keep in its house called mind and discard the unwanted ones, not allowing them to get into the house called mind. This choosing of thoughts can be done through observing the feelings it feels. These feelings are the byproduct of the emotions one has, related to particular thoughts one chooses. By choosing the type of thoughts a soul wants to be associated with, feelings arise due to emotions. These feelings are to be recognised by the soul through feeling awareness and be aware of the type of feeling it feels based on the type of the thought. This awareness of the feeling is the third dimension of the awareness soul is developing and by continuously maintaining these three dimensional awareness, the awareness of breath, thoughts and feelings, a soul regains its mastery over the mind and frees itself completely from being a slave of its mind.
Gradually, after continuously maintaining the breath and thought awareness, one can start developing body awareness, which is fourth dimensional awareness. This can be developed by observing movement of one's body and the body organs while being busy in day to day performance. In this body awareness development, one can pay attention to the way the body is moving, walking, talking, looking, sitting, expressing itself through movement of various limbs, feeling the sensations in its body of various kinds like thirst, hunger, touch, taste, heat, cold, vibrations of body cells and so on. This fourth dimensional awareness has again to be developed while maintaining the other three dimensional awarenesses, namely, breath, thoughts and feelings awarenesses. So now, a soul is having four dimensional awareness, breath, thoughts, feelings and the body. Once the soul gains mastery over these four dimensional awareness, it has now become a complete witness of everything within itself.
Now after developing the four fold awareness of four dimensions within itself, one has to gradually develop multi dimensional awareness of All That Is around itself. A soul can develop multi dimensional awareness by being aware of the impact of its words and actions based on the thoughts it chooses on other souls and the environment around itself. Since, All That Is around itself is ONE with the soul, it must feel the feelings of the All That Is resulting out of its words and actions based on the thoughts it chooses and continue or modify them depending on the type of impact it makes on All That Is.
This is how gradually a multi-dimensional awareness has to be developed by a soul to regain its complete mastery over its mind and destiny on the whole and tread faster towards its involution towards GOD.
